Benefits of Coconut Oil

I've been getting a lot of people ask me what are all the benefits of using coconut oil. I could never name them all so I decided to write a post and name all the benefits of coconut oil.
Make sure the oil is virgin coconut oil. If its cold pressed that's even better.
When consuming it will take a couple tries to get use to the texture, but the flavor tastes amazing.
Here we go...

  • Face lotion; use a little bit and rub on face for maximum moisture and less oily skin. I put it on right before I get out of the shower.
  • UTI/ kidney infections: helps prevent and cure.
  • Anti-Viral: will help eliminate cold and flu symptoms.
  • Rash: helps heal and sooth chicken pox, hand foot and mouth disease ( my son had this and it was horrible, thanks to coconut oil he got over it quick), and shingles.
  • Lip moisturizer; small pea size and rub on lips.
  • Nose bleeds: If your prone to nosebleeds coat the inside of your nose with coconut oil regularly.
  • Fungal/yeast: helps treat ringworm, athletes foot and other fungal or yeast infections.
  • Oil pulling; to pull out toxins from the body and keep breath fresh. (See post oil pulling)
  • Hair mask; it helps hair heal and helps it grow and gets rid of unwanted color. ( See post oil hair mask)
  • Cellulite soother; rub on cellulite spots.
  • Cuts and burns: rub small amount on wound and it'll help heal faster and sooth the burn.
  • Stretch mark soother and prevention; it wont get rid of them it will smooth them out and make them less visible.
  • Toothpaste; helps whiten teeth and freshens breath
  • Healthy cooking; replace butter and oil with this for a healthy version of a recipe.
  • Shaving cream; helps legs stay smooth.
  • Makeup remover; put a small amount on a cotton ball and dab on eyes and skin to get rid of makeup
  • Wrinkle reducer; massage on face before you go to sleep.
  • Sunburn soother; Sooth bad sunburns naturally
  • Butt cream for little ones; I use it on my sons diaper rash and it will be almost gone the next day.
  • Dandruff; helps get rid of dandruff when using as a mask for your hair
  • Body odor; Help get rid of body odor anywhere. North and south of the border.... yes it really does help
  • Breastfeeding; cure cracked, sore nipples with a dab of coconut oil. Also when consumed it will boost milk flow.
  • Heart health: its great nutrition for the heart and keeps it healthy and happy.
  • Weight loss; by consuming it, it helps you loose weight. I put a tablespoon of it in my tea everyday and drink about 2 cups of it.
  • Massage oil; so much better than lotion. Will not dry out or clump up.
  • Dry skin/eczema; Rub on dry, cracked spots and with sooth the pain and help the skin heal. My husbands back would get so dry that it would hurt him. Ever since I started using coconut oil he has been sleeping a lot better with his back all moisturized.
  • Homemade items; use it to make homemade lip balm, soap bars, moisture wrap etc....
  • Energy; when consumed it provides natural energy to get through the day.
  • Chafe prevention; use about a tablespoon to reduce chafing.
  • Insect repellent; mix with peppermint oil and spray as needed.
  • Cracked heels; use pea size and rub on heels to moisturize.
  • Improves blood circulation; consume 2-3 tablespoons, helps relieve inflammation in the arteries.
  • Soothing baby bath; I bath my son in it all the time. Especially when his bum is really bad.
  • Cheekbone highlighter; give your cheeks an extra glow  by applying a small amount to cheekbones.
  • Coffee creamer; add this instead of creamer. Much healthier than regular creamer.
  • Personal lubricant
  • Acne fighter
  • Helps sick pets; can be used to heal anything for your pet. From dry skin to soft coats.
  • Reduces hunger; helps you eat less or to help you not over eat.
  • Boosts brain function when eaten: helps improve memory and function.
